Ukrposhta honors the heroism of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine: a new postage stamp "Cross of Military Merit" has appeared

On October 26, Ukrposhta presented the artistic postage stamp "Cross of Military Merit", which complemented the "Awards of Ukraine" series launched by the national postal operator in 1997. In total, 12 stamps with images of the highest honors of Ukraine were issued as part of the series.

The "Cross of Military Merit" award was established by the President of Ukraine on May 5, 2022 to honor servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations who have shown themselves in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, for their outstanding personal courage and bravery during combat missions in the conditions danger to life and direct contact with the enemy; outstanding successes in the management of troops during military operations

The model for the design of the award was the highest military award of the UPA and UGVR - "Cross of Combat Merit", the project of which was created by the famous Ukrainian artist Nil Khasevych.

The edition is limited to 75,000 stamped sheets. The denomination is L (corresponds to the tariff for sending a priority simple letter weighing up to 50 g within Ukraine). The circulation of the "First Day" envelope is 35,000 copies.

The author of the design of the Cross of Military Merit is Oleksandr Lezhnev.

The design of the postage stamp and envelope "First Day" was developed by the famous Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Taran, with whom Ukrposhta has been cooperating for many years. In addition to images of stamps and envelopes, the artist is the author of coin and banknote designs, as well as book illustrations.

The award of the President of Ukraine "Cross of Military Merit" is made of silver with gilding and has the form of a straight equilateral cross, in the center of which is depicted the Emblem of the Princely State of Volodymyr the Great. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, the commander of the 1st OMB "Wolves Da Vinci" Lieutenant Dmytro Kotsyubailo were ("Da Vinci"), Captain Vladyslav Kalievskyi, Sergeant Dariia Mazurenko, Lieutenant General Yevhen Moysiuk, Colonel Oleksandr Okhrimenko and many other defenders of Ukraine awarded the honorary combat award.
