Look at the the photo and compare the top on this guitar to that of the original on the cover of the BOTB book. It is incredible how close they look and there is no doubt Tom Murphy nailed the color spot on. This 2014 Spec 59 Les Paul Beauty Of The Burst "Cover Burst" is a super rare and special guitar with a hand picked top by Edwin Wilson and Yasuhiko Iwanade and was painted by Tom Murphy.

This is one of the rarest and most desirable of all the Murphy painted guitars. The 2014 specs include the updates truss rod route without tubing, finger board glued to neck with hot hide glue, Custombucker pickups and the neck glued to the body with hot hide glue. It was specially made for the top select Japanese dealers only and was a collaboration between Wilson, Iwanade, and Murphy. For those of you that don't know Edwin Wilson is the Gibson Historic Program Director and Yasuhiko Iwanade is the author of The Beauty Of The Burst Book and Tom Murphy needs no introduction. The cases were signed by Wilson and Murphy and Murphy marked his initials inside the control cavity.

There were only a small number of guitars in this run and these tops were all hand picked by Edwin Wilson and Iwanade and painted by Tom Murphy to replicate the guitar on the front cover of The Beauty Of The Burst Book. These guitar are rare and never to be done again and the Wilson-Murphy-Iwanade team really out did themselves on this one in every aspect. This is some of Murphy’s best work to date at Gibson. The guitar sounds absolute incredible just dripping with tone with beautiful flames on the top.

The guitar is in excellent condition with all hang tags, white gloves, signed case by Wilson and Murphy and a signed copy of the Beauty Of The Burst Book in Japanese signed by Yasuhiko Iwanade.
