Look at the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOOXr5nNgNM. It's me playing this particular guitar.
It sounds unbelievably good, both acoustic and plugged.
Comparing to Excel DC - it's definitely better both acoustic and plugged and worth its extra cost. I bought both at the same time to compare them and decided to sold Excel almost immediately.
Excel is more mid-rangy, Deluxe is more wide-range. Hights are very sweet. I could only listen to double stops above the 12th fret forever. Lows are prominent and focussed, not muddy at all.
Ebony fretboard (that only Deluxe has) for sure makes low frequencies more focussed.
Seymour Duncan Seth Lover Alnico 4 pickups I believe brings more hights and lows same time making sound more glossy and finalised, especially works well with cleans. (Usually Seth Lovers are A2, you could get A4 only with this guitar, it was special order from D'Angelico.)
Not planned to sell it but I didn't became a 335 player, and this guitar deserves to be played more.
Some specs are unique for this particular year. They changing some of them as pickups, scale length, frets, toggle switch for almost every model year.
Finish: Matte Wine, limited, only 50 were made, this one is #31 of them.
